CT imaging has enabled us to treat this Spaniel appropriately…Right elbow had a complete intercondylar fissure, one the verge of fracture, now stabilised with a 4.5mm intercondylar positional screw whilst left elbow was dysplastic with undisplaced figure of the medial coronoid process, treated with subtotal coronoidectomy.
Neither condition would be readily diagnosable radiographically; both conditions are prevalent in Springer Spaniels but require totally different treatment.
They can co-exist in the same elbow (and we have seen cases of this), but it is unusual to have one in each elbow.
Paddy’s big day out… First time he’s left the farm and first time he’s been to the vets! Thank you to Colin for making him feel so at ease.
Thank you for so many kind messages following our #RichHousePoorHouse episode last night
