Emergency case this evening, RTA Spinal fracture of L7/S1 in a 12kg, two year old Cocker Spaniel.
Repair by dorsal decompression, distraction of L7-S1 and stabilisation with 2.7mm cortical pedicel screws; then place, net of bilateral 2.7mm locking plates bridging from L6 to sacrum.
Following on from last night, this is the brave girl up and about on her feet this morning.
Physiotherapy and nursing care will continue throughout the day for her, helping to ensure she’s back to full strength and fitness as soon as possible. Sending lots of get well wishes, from all the nurses.
